We welcome your application for the position of Professor in the Subject of Aesthetic Didactics

The Department of Dance Pedagogy has about 25 employees and currently offers a Bachelor Programme in Dance Pedagogy, a Teacher Education Programme in Dance, and a Master Programme Contemporary Dance Didactics. SKH’s education in teaching training for higher education is developed from the pedagogical competencies within the department and contributes to the future development of the aesthetic didactics at SKH.

We are looking for someone with the desire to teach, conduct research and supervision at all levels in the Subject of Aesthetic Didactics. As a Professor, you are a leader in your area and you are expected to be engaged in the building of an interdisciplinary research environment pertaining to the arts and learning. You will be required to make applications for external research funding within the area and to be active in national and international networks in the subject field.

You will also be responsible for the education of teaching training for higher education and the planning, developing and implementing according to the quality enhancement and assurance guidelines in place at SKH.

Job description

Your work tasks also include:

  • Responsibility for the development of the Subject of Aesthetic Didactics at SKH.
  • Responsibility for the education in teaching training for higher education (HPU) and its development at SKH.
  • Responsibility for the coordination and development of “Kulturskoleklivet” for SKH.
  • Responsibility for students’ education within the area of the Subject of Aesthetic Didactics.
  • Teaching, supervising and examining in courses within pedagogy and didactics.
  • Working to develop existing and new courses and programmes in relation to other education courses on offer at SKH.
  • Course administration, taking part in departmental development work, and collaborating with both internal SKH organisations as well as with external parties.
  • Actively contributing to the development within the subject of aesthetic didactics and the societal development that is of relevance to the work at the University.

You will have an important role in the work of building a common culture of openness and collaboration at SKH, as well as in the creation of a good work environment. You may be offered assignments such as responsibility for study programmes or specialisations, board appointments, as well as time for research.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the position of professor you have to demonstrate both scientific as well as teaching expertise within the subject field.

To be eligible for this position it is required to have pedagogical specialisation in the Subject of Aesthetic Didactics, to have documented experience of being responsible for and developing teaching training for higher education or equivalent, and to have good knowledge of Swedish and/or another Nordic language as well as English.

In addition, you have those personal abilities required to competently fulfil the appointment and to be able to represent the university in a manner beneficial to the organisation.

Assessment criteria

The following criteria will be assessed, in this order of priority:

  • Scientific expertise; broad and deep knowledge of pedagogy in the Subject of Aesthetic Didactics.
  • Teaching skills; proven teaching skills within or outside a University context.
  • Experience of being responsible for and developing teaching training for higher education, or equivalent.
  • Experience of initiating and managing research projects.
  • You have completed training in teaching training for higher education or equivalent.
  • Documented skills in interacting with society, including the ability to communicate teaching and research questions nationally as well as internationally.
  • Understanding what it means to lead and work within the framework of a government organisation.
  • Documented teamwork skills.
  • Administrative skills.

About the position

The scope of employment is 100 percent of a full-time position and is for an indefinite period of time, initiated by a probation period of 6 months. Employment to commence on January 1, 2021, or according to agreement.
