We welcome your application for the position of Professor in Circus
We are looking for someone with the desire to lead, plan and develop the existing Master Programme in Contemporary Circus Practices and to collaborate on the development of a Master’s Programme in Directing Circus.
As well as teach, conduct research and supervise at all academic levels within expanded notion of circus practices, the person should be able to apply a critical perspective on existing norms that define the field of contemporary circus to date.
The Master Programme in Contemporary Circus Practices comprises a total of two years’ full-time, second cycle studies. The program is practice based, research preparatory (qualifying the student for third cycle studies) and leads to a Degree of Master of Fine Arts in Choreography with a Specialisation in Circus. With an emphasis on experimentation, constructive questioning and the presence of art within societal contexts, MA studies also emphasize the artist's development and articulation of an active, sustainable artistic practice.
Professors at Stockholm University of the Arts must have both artistic work experience as well as deep theoretical understanding of his/her artistic field. Professors are expected to engage in and lead artistic research work and be able to critically reflect on the artistic processes of teaching.

As a professor you will have an important role in the work of building a common culture of openness and collaboration at SKH, as well as in the creation of a good work environment. You may be offered assignments or responsibility for study programs or specializations, committee and board appointments. This position includes time for artistic research.
In order to be eligible for the position of professor in the artistic discipline you have to demonstrate both artistic and teaching expertise within the field of circus and knowledge of circus with an international perspective.

Detailed information regarding qualifications and assessment criteria for teaching appointments is stated in Chapter 4 Sections 3 and 4 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance.
This position requires a deep understanding of and extensive experience within circus and directing. In addition, you have those personal abilities required to competently fulfil the appointment and to be able to represent the university in a manner beneficial to the organisation.
Assessment criteria when appointing a professor shall include the degree of proficiency required to be eligible for the position. When appointing a professor, consideration shall also be taken regarding the applicant’s ability to develop, lead, and implement very high quality within courses and programmes, artistic research, or research and development work.

You have undergone training in teaching in higher education, or expect to do so within the next three years, or have in some other documented manner acquired equivalent knowledge.
The scope of employment is 100 percent of a full-time position and it is a fixed period of 5 years, after which the period of the employment must be renewed. However, the total period of the employment may not exceed more than ten years. Employment to commence 2022-01-01, or according to agreement.
You are employed as a Professor in Circus. The assignment of being responsible of the MA programme
is independent of the employment and can be terminated with two months' notice by both parties.
