Mime figuration as taught at SKH is primarily based on the “The actor who thinks with their body” (Den kroppsligt tänkande skådespelaren) method. The roots of this method stem from Tomaszewski mime, curated and further developed by the mime artist Professor Stanislaw Brosowski. Technical elements/training, as well as creative elements/étude work are included in the subject.
We seek an individual to work with teaching, research and academic supervision at all levels of education within the field of mime figuration.
As a candidate for the Assistant Professorship, it is expected that you have extensive engagement in artistic work and experience and as well an in-depth theoretical understanding for your field of art. You are expected to engage in and encourage artistic research efforts plus be able to critically reflect on the artistic processes that included as a part of your teaching. The teaching is conducted primarily in English.

The primary responsibility consists of teaching mime figuration, individually and in groups/masterclasses along with academic supervision of students. The work will also consist of administrative tasks such as working with advising students on their studies, preparing and conducting examinations, grading reports and assignments, and other evaluations.

As an assistant professor you will have an important role in the work of building a common culture of openness and collaboration at SKH, as well as in the creation of a good work environment. You may be offered assignments or responsibility for study programmes or specialisations, board appointments, and be afforded the time and opportunity to pursue artistic research.
In order to be eligible for the position of assistant professor in the artistic discipline you have to demonstrate both artistic and teaching expertise within the field of mim figuration.

The work tasks and responsibilities presume that you have an active artistic and pedagogical practice in mime figuration with a focus the on “the actor who thinks with their body” method, which SKH’s mime performance education is based on. You also have the requisite personal attributes to successfully perform the tasks and execute the responsibilities of the position to a high standard and be capable of representing the school and its activities.

You have undergone training in teaching in higher education, or expect to do so within the next three years, or have in some other documented manner acquired equivalent knowledge.
The scope of employment is of a full-time position and it is a fixed period of five years, after which the period of the employment must be renewed. However, the total period of the employment may not exceed more than ten years. Employment to commence at the earliest date August 1 2021.
