Job description

The individual we are looking for will have a passion for working with teaching, research and academic tutoring – at all levels within the field of television and digital platforms for film and media. The capability to interact between disciplines and areas is an important area of expertise and skill in today’s film and media landscape. The subject “Television and Digital Platforms for Film and Media” is concerned with the capability to develop concepts and produce content in various genres and for different platforms and formats.

Your work tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Being responsible for the students’ education in in the field of television and digital platforms
  • Working to further develop existing courses and new develop and programmes in relation to other areas of the Department and in collaboration with other teachers in the field.
  • Working with course administration, participating in the Department’s development work, and cooperation both internally within SKH and with external parties
  • Actively contributing to the development within your own particular field and following the societal developments which otherwise is important for the work at the University.
  • Contributing to the development and collaboration between SKH’s educational and research activities and operations in general.

You may be offered assignments/responsibilities such as being responsible for a particular programme or major, you may receive appointments to boards/committees, as well be provided the possibility for time set aside for artistic research. This might entail, for instance, your own research, participation in research projects conducted by others, application for external funding for research and development, or participation in the Department’s own research collegium.

As an instructor, you have an important role in the work of building a common culture of openness and cooperation at SKH, as well as participating in the creation of a supportive and productive working environment.

Eligibility

We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated both artistic and teaching skills.

Artistic skill at Assistant Professor level means having broad and deep knowledge of your artistic field (equivalent to a doctoral degree). You must have demonstrated a good ability to develop and conduct artistic research and development of high quality, or have demonstrated equivalent skills in artistic contexts outside of the university.

Teaching skill at Assistant Professor level means that you have demonstrated teaching skill in artistic contexts within or outside the university. The ability to develop and conduct teaching of high quality at various levels, and participation in linking first-cycle and second-cycle education to research. Alternatively, you must have demonstrated equivalent skills in artistic contexts outside the university.

Your tasks require you to conduct active professional artistic work in the area of film and media with a focus on television and digital platforms. In addition, you must have the personal abilities needed to perform your duties effectively and to be able to represent the university in such a way that benefits its activities.

In addition, you should also have an exceptionally capability to communicate in English, in both speech and writing.

Assessment criteria

The following assessment bases will be assessed in order of prioritisation:

  • Artistic skill: broad and in-depth knowledge within your artistic field, proven via active artistic practice, along with an excellent capability to develop and implement exceptional-quality artistic research and development work.
  • Teaching skills: proven pedagogical proficiency in artistic contexts.
  • Capability to describe your method of instruction, teaching process, and/or pedagogical approach.
  • Documented experience with concept and content development for television and digital platforms within various genres.
  • Proven excellent collaborative skills and experience with collaborative media projects.
  • Proven knowledge about target audience work and communication within television and digital platforms.
  • Proven capability for analysis of environment and society in general.
  • Experience in teaching in English.

You must have completed training in teaching at university level or are expected to complete such a course within the next three years. Alternatively, you must have documented equivalent knowledge.

About the position of employment

The scope of the position is 75 percent of full-time, and is for a fixed-term position for a five-year period. The employment position can be renewed and extended, however the total period of employment may not exceed 10 years. Applicants who are offered the position of employment and whom in total, including with the time period of the position in question, have been employed in a fixed-term position in accordance with Chap. 4, Section 10 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance for more than ten years at the Stockholm University of the Arts, are employed as permanent (regular) employees.
