The position of employment is based in the Department of Performing Arts. We provide education and conduct research within playwriting/dramaturgy for the dramatic arts, theatre directing, costume design, lighting design, sound design, make-up and wig design, set design, technical theatre and production management for the performing arts. We base our work on tried and tested knowledge in order to develop the various performing arts and attain a high level of artistic and technical skill. This requires a reflective approach that enables our students to help develop the field of performing arts following their graduation.

The Department of Performing Arts together with the Department of Acting and the Department of Film and Media are part of the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. Here we provide education and conduct research within film and media, acting and performing arts, and students and researchers also work together in transdisciplinary collaborations.

Job description
We are seeking candidates keen to work with education and supervision at first, second and third-cycle level in combination with artistic research into dramaturgy.

The position primarily involves:
• Running of and responsibility for the development of the subject of dramaturgy at the Department.
• Running the Department's developmental work in cooperation with the Head of Department.
• Course administration and development of cooperation both within Uniarts and with external parties at home and abroad.
• Active contribution to the development of Uniarts’ research and activities in general. As Professor, you play an important role in the process of creating a shared culture for openness and cooperation at Uniarts, and in creating a positive working environment.
• Development within the field of dramaturgy at the Department by means of e.g. monitoring social development that is also of importance for the activities at the University and implementing relevant parts of this in teaching.

As a Professor, you may receive assignments such as programme coordinator or specialisation coordinator in addition to assessment work. You will also have the opportunity to carry out artistic research as part of your position.


Eligibility
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated both artistic and teaching skills.

Artistic skills at Professor level mean being a leader in your artistic field, maintaining the quality of your activity at the highest international level and having deep and broad knowledge of your artistic field.

Teaching skills at Professor level mean that you have demonstrated teaching skills in artistic contexts within or outside the University. The ability to develop, lead and conduct high-quality teaching at various levels.

Your assignments require you to have an active artistic practice within dramaturgy covering the entire field of dramatic arts. This requires an in-depth understanding and experience of the complex area of dramatic arts based on text, space, images, sound and physical formation of characters. You shall have comprehensive and qualified experience of leadership within the area of dramatic arts and shall be able to express yourself both orally and in writing in English. Moreover, you shall have the personal skills required to successfully fill the position and to represent Uniarts in a way that benefits the organisation.

Assessment criteria
The following assessment criteria apply when prioritising candidates:

• Depth and range of expertise and active artistic practice within dramaturgy and performing practices.
• Artistic eligibility; leading over the entire scope of dramatic arts, from the classical institution stage to the public space arena, demonstrated by active artistic practice. This requires an in-depth understanding and experience of the complexity of performing dramatic arts based on space, images, sound, text and physical formation of characters.
• Experience of working with dramatic arts in relation to society in general.
• Experience of international work as a dramaturg at a high artistic level, and the ability to develop international cooperation and exchange of experience.
• Experience of working from a norm-critical perspective both in terms of education and artistic practice.
• Documented experience of leading and coordinating processes within dramatic arts.
• Educational eligibility; demonstrate educational eligibility in an artistic context within or outside the University, and experience of teaching students at different levels from different artistic disciplines.
• The ability to develop and lead high-quality education and to describe your teaching and educational approach.
• Documentation of good cooperative skills, listening skills and flexibility, and experience of working both independently and as part of a team.

You shall have completed or are expected to complete within the next three years college teacher training or have some other form of documented equivalent knowledge.

About the position of employment
The position is full-time and with a time limit of five years. Employment may be renewed after this time. However, the total period of employment is maximum ten years.
You would start working in December 2018, or according to other agreement.
